Application Guidelines for Coating Society’ Scholarship Awards Coating Society members are invited each year to have a child apply for the annual Coating Society of the Houston Area Scholarship Awards. Graduating high school seniors and college students enrolled in a college of higher education are eligible to compete annually for one-year scholarships. To Qualify: Participating students may be either an incoming freshman (recent high school graduate) or a current college student and must submit required information by mail to the Coating Society by October 31. The committee will meet to review grades and course study. Annual scholarship checks will be mailed after all considerations are processed and the scholarship recipients are announced at the annual Christmas party. The student must be attending or planning to attend college on a full time basis (12 hours minimum). College students must submit an application, college transcript showing grades, and proof of enrollment for the coming spring semester. Note(s): The past two semesters can be either of two consecutive semesters (Fall/Spring or Summer/Fall) Summer counts only if the total hours for the summer session(s) total at least 12 hours. Grades from the last two semesters completed must reflect a 3.0 or greater grade point average (or equivalent). Graduating high school students must submit an application, proof of registration for the fall semester in a college of higher education, and their high school transcript. Note(s): A 2.5 out of 4.0 grade point average (or equivalent) for their senior year in high school is required. Parent(s) or guardian must be a member of the Coating Society and attend four (4) Coating Society meetings during the course year for the student to continue to receive consideration. Signing the book at the entry of monthly meetings is proof of attendance. Attending the annual trade show will also be considered as one of the four required meetings. If you wish your son/daughter to be considered for a scholarship, please have him/her complete the application form in this website and mail the other required information. Letters of recommendations from teachers, counselors, employers will also be considered in evaluation of the applications.
